My husband has GPA (former: Morbus Wegener). Fortunately, we have been living in Germany ever since, thus, we are profiting from the general health insurance everyone has to have to Germany. All the medicine, the doctors' bills, the hospital bills are payed by the insurance. We can choose the doctors and the hospitals freely. Sometimes, we have to wait for an appointment, but never very long. In case of an emergency, we are admitted immediately. The insurance is by law obliged to keep my husband insured, no matter what costs will come up. During our "healthy" times, I alway took this system for granted, never thinking about it. However, reading about your financial difficulties only because your husband happened to develop a serious illness makes me really, really grateful for living in Germany!!! What I was wondering: Are you in contact with the american vasculitis organization? Probably, they could be of some help. See: http://www.vasculitisfoundation.org/
